Chinua Achebe enjoys a prominent position among the contemporary African writers. His literary talent has attracted the careful attention of many initiated readers and critics from all over the world. Born in Nigeria in 1930, Achebe has been awarded honorary
doctorates by Universities in North America and Britain. He has Margaret Wrong Memorial Prize, Nigerian National Trophy for literature, New Statesman Jock Campbell Award and Common wealth Poetry Prize to his credit. He has been nominated for the Nobel Prize
for Literature. He worked as Director of External Broadcasting in Nigeria. Of late he has won the 2007 Man Booker Prize. Both as a committed creative writer and as a critic Achebe has been a celebrated champion of African cause.

Dr. Haseeb Ahmed obtained his P.G. degree, M.A., in English literature, from Marathwada University, Aurangabad and bachelors degree in Education, B.Ed., from Osmania University Hyderabad. He also cleared State Eligibility Test for lecturers (SET) and got Ph.D. from Dr.BA.M. University Aurangabad. He is a recognized P.G. Teacher of Dr.BA.M. University Aurangabad. At present he is working as Vice Principal at Aurangabad College for Women, Aurangabad, Maharashtra where he is engaged in teaching English Literature to the students of UG and PG. He is also working on a Minor Research Project entitled “A Comparative study of Chinua Achebe and Ngugi wa Thiong’o: A Postcolonial Perspective,” accorded by the University Grants Commission. He has attended many National and State level seminars and conferences and presented Research papers. He has also contributed articles to newspapers and magazines. His areas of interest are Colonial and Postcolonial literatures and contemporary African literature.
